Not too much going on here...it has been REALLY HOT in the
100's all week. I'm reading an interesting book about the
Belgian Congo in 1960's, (called "The Poisonwood Bible"). It
takes a good 150 pages or so to really get you rooted, but now
I'm eager to figure out how it will end.

Ooh, I need some tips on what to eat before a rigorous
workout??? I'm getting more serious about training for a 10k in
September and have yet to keep from feeling nauseated while
I'm on a long jog. I know some of you have more wisdom on the
subject...so any suggestions are welcome.

BTW, the kiddos got to the camera and it's no longer functioning. So, no new pictures for awhile. Here's one from May.

Brad and I were able to complete the "Give a Day, Get a Day" for free entrance to Disneyland ...we had a fun-filled time!

Dexter "Cash" turns 1

He's walking, eating everything in sight and now he's officially 1 year old! We had a fun day of cake, presents and hit up the free day at our Fresno Met Museum where they were having a special Bob the Builder hands-on kids exhibit. He was wasted before we arrived, but we all had a great time and slept well that night.

Cobb's Pumpkin Patch

Now we are ready for Halloween!

Averi's just started preschool one day a week for 2.5 hours and they had a field trip to Cobb Ranch this week.So I brought Cash along and we had a blast on the grounds. This was our first pumpkin patch adventure and I'd love to make it an annual tradition. Averi wanted sooo badly to ride the white miniature horse at the petting exhibit; and Dexter couldn't get enough of the mud and hay. Good old outdoor fun.

Jaron's Mission Call

The call has been issued, and Jaron will step foot in the MTC on March 18th to serve in the Buenos Aires North, Argentina Mission! We are soooo excited. Come July we could have 3 of the Wright Brothers serving all at once! Congrats Jaron! His mission includes that southern most tip of Argentina; he's thrilled to see that part.

Here are the children in their new pajamas from Great-Gma Smith. They are the cutest!

We made a day trip to visit Cherali's Aunt and family in San Jose. While there, we had the chance to leave to children and take a quick drive out to Santa Cruz boardwalk/pier.The sun was setting just as we arrived. It was a nice clear day, but once the sun set it cooled off very quickly.

I AM NOT YOUR MOM

So Averi has become very talk-a-tive. She has a mastered a few words and she can understand pretty much everything you tell her. However I (This is Brad, her DAD writing) am quite frustrated that she constantly calls me MAMA. She knows I am her Dad and not her Mom; we have had lengthy discussions on the matter.

She knows how to say DAD and DADA but she thinks it is hilarious to call me MAMA. She will knock on the door and yell for MAMA even though she knows I am the only person in the room. When I correct her she just laughs. It is not just once but all the time. Even when she wakes up in the middle of the night and yells out MAMA, I correct her and she just smiles and laughs. Needless to say I will have to continue to work hard to convince Averi that calling me MAMA is not acceptable and not funny.

Here are some more pictures of Dexter and Averi. As you can see, he was not happy to be dressed up for pictures. But he liked his sanat outfit.

The three pictures of Averi pretty much are characteristic of her 3 main moods. (1) Happy, (2) Bored with what is going on, (3) Being obedient and doing what she is told. In this case she was happy, then bored and then started holding still as directed for the picture.

Halloween

We had a great time at the joint ward carnival...Averi was a ladybug and Dexter was a little frog (thanks to the Scott's for the last minute borrowing of the costume). When we got home, Brad helped Averi sort through the spoils.

Dexter Cash Whatcott was born on October 1, 2008 at 11:36 pm. He weighed 8lbs 9 ozs and is 21 inches long. So far he is a very good baby. Only eats and sleeps. Averi just loves to hug him and touch his nose. Mom and baby plan to come home tomorrow; we will get more pictures then. Here are a few pictures:

August Trip to Oregon

Cherali & Averi had a blast on their trip to visit all the Wright's in Oregon. Here is Averi enjoying Aunt Truli's crazy cool glow ball. Then a pic of us home from church and a snap from the fabulous baby shower Shelley threw. Averi couldn't get enough of little baby Devin.

We left Brad at home to enjoy the new platation blinds we just found for our guest room. Averi found just as much pleasure in them as we did ;)

Cherali is in the final weeks of her pregnancy and we are excited to welcome baby D anytime now!

In case you do not know, Cherali is pregnant with our second child. We found out today that it is a boy. We are excited. I tried to explain it to Averi but she just kept grabbing my nose. Not much else to say about it. We have been trying to think of some good boy names but no luck so far. Hopefully we can come up with something or will just have to call him "hey boy."

MOVING IN

Got the keys to the house today. Averi and I went over to start cleaning things up a little. She is very scared of the garage door opener. Normally she is not scared of anything. She is so fearless that she has no problem wandering off, getting lost, and being separated from her parents. However, when it comes to vacuums and garage doors she freaks out. Anyways we are excited to be getting out of apartment life.

We went to a nice park near us the other week. There were a ton of ducks. Averi loved the ducks. Although we did not have anything to feed the ducks, we enjoyed pretending to throw stuff into the water for the ducks to eat. It did not take long for Averi to figure out that she could fit through the bars in the fence and boy did she want to get in the duck pond. Luckily we are stronger than Averi and could prevent her from climbing through the fence and jumping into the duck pond. Sometimes that is the best part about being a parent; being stronger than your kid.

We had ten days to relocate from Sacramento to Fresno so after a whirlwind move, here we are! We got lucky and found an apartment in the North corner just east of the 99. Brad is enjoying working with juvenile cases in Madera County. Averi adjusted wonderfully and we have made quick friends with other toddlers and their parents.

Averi had a blast at her first Easter Egg Hunt this last week and will celebrate her First Birthday with family next week! We are also delighted to be expecting our second child late in September!
